Dying to know what Face of Halloween is all about?
What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?
Halloween '16 changed everything! After losing a murder mystery audition, I was sent to a local haunt needing extra bodies. Despite fearing haunted houses, I said, “Why not?” As a survivor of childhood and domestic abuse with CPTSD, I found healing in choosing to find the fun in fear instead of constantly living in it. SFX with Puffy Paint sparked a passion that led me to become Haunt Momma/Casting Director, where I welcomed others with similar struggles to find that same therapeutic outlet.
Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.
In my healing journey, I realized I had two paths: allow my trauma to become my entire identity or heal and move forward with a survivor's spirit. I chose the latter. I've learned to compartmentalize, regulate my breathing, assess what's happening, and focus on my next move instead of panicking. I'd be terrified, but I'd still be trying to figure out WHY the haunting is happening and how to stop it while everyone else panics and hopes someone else will save them!
What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?
I'd use this opportunity to rebuild the savings I recently had to drain due to an unforeseen financial hit. I'd been growing that fund toward some big creative dreams: a vegan, haunt-themed food cart, running my own Murder Mystery group, or a haunted drive-in experience. Replenishing those savings would give me the breathing room to get back on track and start turning one of these ideas into reality!
Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?
My husband. For about 10 years now, we've weathered life's trials & tribulations as a team. I've watched him go through hell & fight to reclaim his life against impossible odds, standing beside him as a partner, not a passenger. He's done the same for me, supporting my struggles & encouraging me to chase my dreams. We've fought hard to build our life together & become the teammates we each always wanted, but never had. I can't imagine facing the impossible without him. We'd survive AND thrive!
