Seiil Toktosunova

Horror movies are my favorite genre, but Halloween is my life. It's the only holiday where I can shed reality and be anyone I want.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

My most memorable Halloween was the first time I actually went trick-or-treating when I was like 9 or 10. I come from a family that doesn't really celebrate it, and I'm honestly the only one who actively does, so I remember having to beg my mom just to let me go and get a costume. I ended up making my own princess costume, somehow convinced her to let me leave the house, and it seriously turned into one of the best nights ever and ever since then, I always, always do something for Halloween.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I would make it to the end of a horror movie because during extreme situations, I immediately lock in and switch to my logical side instead of panicking. Plus, as a massive horror fan, I've practically studied how to survive them—I’m completely obsessed with a YouTube channel called How to Beat, which breaks down exact survival strategies for different horror scenarios. Combining those breakdown strategies with my own natural logic and problem-solving skills means I'd actually know what to do.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

If I won the $13,000, I would use it directly toward my school tuition to fund my dream of studying abroad. Traveling and studying abroad has been a lifelong goal of mine, so being able to use this money to finally make it happen and cover those costs would be an absolute full-circle moment.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

If I'm stuck in a horror movie, the one person I’d definitely want by my side is my dad because he is constantly the person who has my back. He is genuinely the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back, and I know without a doubt that he always has my best interest in mind. In a crazy survival situation, you need someone you can completely trust with your life, and because he has always been there to help me through every single aspect of my life, he is truly my biggest hero.
