Nicholas Wicht

I love Halloween’s creeping feeling that something is wrong. The suspense, the chills, and getting to scare the hell out of people.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

In high school, I volunteered for our Halloween walk. My job was to hide in a hole wearing a Jason mask and jump out at the last second. I didn’t realize I could wait outside until I heard people coming, so I lay in the dirt all night, fully committed. When a group finally arrived, I jumped up so fast I got a head rush and went headfirst into another student. Our heads collided. I got a black eye; he needed stitches. Nothing scarier than Jason coming out of the ground and actually causing damage

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

As an actor, I’ve faced years of rejection and auditioned pretending a mannequin was my wife, so my threshold for bizarre situations is pretty high. A man with a knife is more straightforward than a casting director telling me to “be more of a CSI guy.” At least I know what he wants. I’d make it to the end because I can take direction, handle disappointment, and know when it’s time to leave a room. Seriously, I’d stay calm, protect my loved ones, and definitely not check the basement.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I’d put the $13,000 toward producing a thriller feature film I’ve written. Bringing my own story to the screen is a dream I’ve been working toward for years, and this money would bring me one step closer to making that dream a reality. I want to create something that stays with people long after the credits roll. Something that gives them chills, makes them feel deeply, and reminds them why they love movies.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My wife, Gerry. She’s Irish, so she doesn’t suffer fools. She’s my partner in life and in chasing this filmmaking dream, and there’s nobody I’d want beside me more when things get scary. Plus, she’d never let me live it down if I did something stupid, so that alone would improve my chances of survival
