What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?
One Halloween, as I worked arduously to craft my costume of the Fly, my coworkers were texting me, excited to see me. I rushed to work to show off my costume to suddenly realize all my coworkers were dressed as me!! As I wear the same outfit all the time, my coworkers bought clothes and a beanie identical to my wordrobe, and everyone still was wearing Covid masks so even my oldest friend mistook a coworker of mine as me that day. Truly a surprising and unforgettable gift.
Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.
Either I would become the featured monster by the end of the film, like Zach Eggers newest Resident Evil film portrayed (sometimes heroes wear monster masks), or I would be the guy wearing the suit throughout the film like Doug Jones; the creature we are all rooting for and know will come back for multiple sequels. However, in the day to day, I am an artist and creative thinker, so if my life were to become a horror story, maybe I would luck out and be the artist that archives our Apocalypse.
What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?
As an artist who has loved horror since a child and always dreamed of working in the industry, with this prize money I could legitimately afford a laptop to finish writing my horror movie script, I could begin the steps to help funding an indie creative project, I could help my mother out of debt, and would like to donate a portion to Children's Hospital- like Spirit Halloween, I wish to help these kids out who are battling illness and deserve all the help they can get To just enjoy life!!
Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?
Well, David Lynch is my ultimate hero I adore and admire, but having lost him this last year I would have to say that my next choice would be Guillermo Del Toro. With his wit, humor, and creativity, I am convinced he would manage to survive with me to the end of Hell and back again. He brings joy, laughter and an illuminated perspective that elicits respect and a true since of a humble leader who could see through confusion to navigate to safe passage, to be real, grounded, and yet, comical.
