Kels Mcmahon

I work at a Goth bar in bk, and I work at Lucky 13 (a metal bar in bk). I’m a horror fanatic. Oh yeah, and I studied acting at Juilliard.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

The best moments of Halloweens in the past lie on fire escapes—where I share candid conversations under the glow of cigarette embers with strangers I’ll never see again. Or weird dance parties with my friends so late into the night that no one cares about their costumes anymore. Or the Halloweens I came home feeling like I’m a completely different person.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

Let me be clear. I’ve never fought another person my whole life. Like, not a single soul. I’ve always found my a way to talk myself out of them. But when push comes to shove, I can tell I have the right instincts to survive to the end. You see, I have the capacity to use critical thinking skills under intense situations, while adapting fast so I’m good in a crisis. Hell, why do you think I bartend in New York?

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I would use it to stay afloat—I’m sinking here!

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

Lucy Lawless. I don’t think I need to explain myself.
