John Sweeney

I’m almost 40 and I don’t miss a year to dress up. Halloween is the absolute best. From decore to movies. It’s also my bday month.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

There’s several. I live in NYC. The parade is always awesome. I’ve been to a lot of parties in my life and Halloween parties are almost always the best every single time. From a warehouse party in Brooklyn to house parties in Harlem. Most memorable was probably circa 2004-5 when I dressed up with a buddy as Vincent (me) and Jules for Halloween. We were the hit of the party. I think I spent more time fulfilling picture requests than anything else! I can’t choose just one

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I’ve seen every horror movie imaginable. From the seriously disturbing and gory movies in the 70’s to the cerebral/psychological ones more recently that really make people question things. I love them all. And I promise on everything I love, I do not scare easy. As for surviving one myself. We will just have to see. But I won’t go out easily that’s for sure. I’m a fighter and I know how to think and perform well under pressure.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

Well I’d honestly have to pay some bills, mostly ones for my mother. Make a couple donations to some foundations I participate with. Catch up with whatever I can, and after that if there’s anything left over?… maybe treat myself and my girl to a nice small trip over the fall. With a setting fit for a horror movie for sure.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

That’s a very subjective question. People I know personally in my life. I work in healthcare and have had a lot of experience in emergency response services in NYC. A lot of the people I’ve met along the way, definitely inspirational real life hero types. Good people. Can’t choose just one. I’d probably say (for the sake of you knowing anyone) maybe David Goggins? He seems like he would do well in a tense situation. But in reality, any number of the first responders I’ve worked with.
