J Alfaro

Halloween isn’t a costume I put on—it’s where my horror-loving soul feels at home. I don’t just celebrate the season; I embody it.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

My most memorable Halloweens are the ones when the whole world seems to join in: costumes, eerie decorations, scary stories, and strangers sharing a little magic for one night. I love how Halloween lets people be playful, dramatic, and delightfully spooky together. That feeling—being surrounded by people who understand the thrill of a good scare—is what stays with me, and why I want to help make that spirit unforgettable for others.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I’d make it to the end because I stay calm when things get chaotic. As a flight attendant, I’m used to paying attention, thinking clearly under pressure, and helping people work together when nerves are high. I love horror, so I know the rules: don’t investigate the noise alone, don’t split up, and never ignore the obvious warning sign. I’d bring practical instincts, loyalty, and just enough genre knowledge to know when it’s time to run.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I’d use the $13,000 to make a meaningful difference for my family while celebrating the Halloween community that brought me here. I’d set aside a portion to help ease my parents’ financial worries, then use the rest to create memorable horror experiences—costume, decorations, and a Halloween gathering where friends and fellow fans feel welcomed. To me, the best kind of luck is getting to share something you love and make someone else’s life a little brighter.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My dad. I’d want him beside me because facing something terrifying is easier with someone you trust. We’d watch each other’s backs, keep our heads when panic sets in, and figure out the clues as a team. I can picture us finding a way to laugh at the absurd moments, too. Whatever the movie threw at us, we’d face it together—and neither of us would leave the other behind.
