Hailey Blasingame

Halloween is a celebration of all things that I love. I get to be my authentic weird creepy self and I plan for it all year long.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

My most memorable Halloween experience is really the tradition my mom and I had every October. We’d decorate the house on October 1st and spend the month watching only Tim Burton movies. One year, our decorations were so over-the-top that a couple actually took their wedding photos in front of our house! My mom dressed as Maleficent on stilts, my stepdad was Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, and I was a mummy. It was chaotic, hilarious, and so much fun.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I have an almost concerning amount of knowledge about slasher films. I know the rules of Scream, I’m completely obsessed with Michael Myers from Halloween, and I genuinely think Jigsaw from SAW is a genius. And then there’s Art the Clown, who is absolutely terrifying but also, in my opinion, a full-blown gay icon. The dramatic looks, the theatrical energy, the commitment to the bit—I love him. Basically, I’ve studied slashers like it’s a college course, so if I’m in a horror movie, I’m prepared.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I’d use the unlucky $13,000 for a mix of being responsible and having a little fun. First, I’d put it toward living expenses and school. I’m currently pursuing my master’s in psychology at Pepperdine University because I’m fascinated by the human mind and genuinely love learning about what makes people tick. Whatever was left over would absolutely go toward costumes for music festivals and events (I love the Renaissance festival).
