What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

At the Pennhurst Asylum here in Pennsylvania, I went with my husband and one of my best friends. At the end of the haunted house, there is a final dark tunnel. When I thought I was holding my friend’s hand through it, it turned out that she swapped her hand with one of the ghost actresses without me noticing. When I was speaking and heard no response, I turned and expected to see my friend. Instead, it was one of the ghosts holding my hand through the tunnel!

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I think my gullible and naive nature has created some sort of invisible shield around me. I say this not to be cute. So, I think the monsters in the horror movie would likely see me as an easy target and not attack me until the very end. However, once I get used to my surroundings and a “lay of the land,” I venture that the monsters are in greater danger - all I need is a Dr. Pepper and a second wind - and it’s over.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

Ever since I left the Navy, I haven’t been able to get my own car. I would put some aside to help me be able to get a nice used vehicle. I would also set some aside for a rainy day fund. Finally, I would surprise my husband with a present.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My real-life hero is my brother, Kaleb. He and I endured some rough times a few years ago through loss and the trauma of that experience, but he has been one of the strongest and resilient people I have ever known. Even though I am the older brother, I look up to him and admire him. He is also street smart and strong, so he can help balance out our survival chances in a horror movie.
