Cecilia Walczynski

Most families pass down sweet traditions. Mine passed down cemetery gates and the Bat-Signal. Halloween isn't a season, it's my personality.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

We didn’t just decorate for Halloween, we transformed our home into Arkham Asylum, stocked with 350 “medicine” treat bags, and sent Batman flying from our roof to the driveway. As the night went on, we depleted our treats supply, so I raided our kitchen for anything to hand out, from chip bags to pop cans, and even my sister’s fidget toys. Meanwhile, Batman’s final mission came to an unexpected end when my brother launched the zipline into a tree, retiring our one and only zipline Halloween.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

Most horror movies have a final girl who survives until the end and I figured out why I would be her. My secret weapon isn’t necessarily bravery or survival skills, it’s yapping. I’m loud, I never stop chatting, and I want to get to know everyone. I’d annoy the killer so much they would be trying to escape me. It’s easy, just outtalk the monster!

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I’d finally give the horror sci-fi video game torturing my head, and everyone around me, a chance to escape. I have sketches, scripts, and countless notebooks of ideas, but one major problem: getting funding is nearly impossible. The $13,000 could help turn my crazy idea into a reality. Want to watch a true horror movie? Me trying to learn how to code.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My dad. He’s a retired firefighter/paramedic turned ER tech who saves lives every day, so if anyone can get me through a horror movie, it’s him. He’s also the one who brings our Batman Halloween to life every year and introduced me to my first horror film. Plus, when the killer inevitably gets to me, I’d at least have someone qualified to patch me up.
