What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?
My birthday is six days before Halloween, so I always make the season memorable. Last year, neighborhood friends decorated a trailer with hay bales, and we cruised around with kids and adults all dressed up. In the past, I hosted gig nights in my hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, including a Halloween night where all the bands and guests dressed up. Now, as a mother, I love carrying that tradition forward by dressing up with my kids and making Halloween special for them each year.
Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.
One thing life has taught me is how to function through chaos — basically perfect horror movie training. My hypervigilance means no one is sneaking past without me noticing and coming up with five scenarios for why they're there. I've already clocked the exits, noticed what feels out of place and figured out how I'd protect myself and those around me. Plus, I'm not investigating creepy sounds alone, and I definitely won't be saying, "I'll be right back." Final girl energy, basically.
What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?
Home is where my heart is. I'd build a secure life for my kids while also investing in my own future. Writing and photography are two of my passions that I'd love to grow, especially during my favorite time of year with spooky photo shoots, scary stories and changing colors. For my children, I'd focus on their individual interests, giving them opportunities to explore activities and experiences we otherwise might not be able to afford.
Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?
My kids, without question. They're the most amazing, savage little humans I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. We're a wee tribe of barbaric yet loving souls, and they're my heroes. I couldn't imagine life without them. As for surviving a horror movie, my best friend of 20 years would be my first pick. We've survived many an ordeal together, and I have no doubt she'd be loyal and protective the whole way. She lives across the ocean from me, but nothing could keep us apart.
