What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

On Halloween 2001, when I was thirteen, my friends and I snuck into the old cemetery at midnight. We wanted to live out our favorite horror movies, but the air felt heavy and freezing cold. As we reached the oldest mausoleum, all our flashlights flickered out at once. Through the thick fog, a tall, shadowed figure stepped out from behind a cracked headstone. My survival instincts kicked in, and I froze. The figure slowly pointed right at me and whispered, “Your turn.” We sprinted all the way hom

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I would survive a horror film because I don’t just watch them—I’ve spent 38 years studying them. I’m the guy who knows every trope and survival rule by heart. I’m not splitting up from the group, I’m not investigating that weird noise in the basement, and I sure as hell am not tripping over air when running. My instincts are sharp, my mind is completely unfazed by the dark, and I’m self-aware enough to outsmart the villain. While everyone else panics and breaks the rules, I’ll be the last one st

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

First, I'd destroy "toxic" high-interest debt—the ultimate slasher to financial health. Next, I'd stash a 3–6 month emergency fund safely in a High-Yield Savings Account so a surprise expense can’t sneak up on me in the dark. Finally, I’d invest the rest in low-cost index funds to build terrifyingly strong wealth for the future. It’s the ultimate way to flip the script on bad luck.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My real-life hero to survive a horror movie with is the ultimate icon, Kane Hodder. As the definitive Jason Voorhees, he literally wrote the book on slasher cinema. He wouldn't just help me survive a horror movie; he would make the villains run for their lives. His brutal stunt experience, physical dominance, and legendary toughness mean we wouldn't be hiding in the dark. With Kane by my side, we would actively hunt down the threat and make sure we both make it to the end credits alive.
