I am the face of Halloween because I love doing sfx makeup and I work hard to hand craft my prosthetics to ensure I get a good scare.
You decide who wins the sinister $13,000, and meets Jamie Lee Curtis, Matthew Lillard, and Kane Hodder!
Dying to know what Face of Halloween is all about?
What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?
My most memorable Halloween experience is when I did my moms Halloween makeup for a competition that won us a trip to San Francisco and the 49ers game. The material I used were what I could find around the house and DIY. During that time, I was in college and couldn’t afford good quality SFX materials. So imagine my surprise when my work won that trip.
Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.
Why would I make it to the end of a horror movie? Because I have a Master’s in Social Work, I’m a trauma-informed academic counselor, and I work part time doing crisis work — which means I’d probably survive and end up creating a care plan for the villain. While everyone else is running, I’m like, “Hold up — has anyone asked why they’re chasing us with a machete? Maybe this is unresolved childhood trauma.” I’d be the one setting emotional boundaries and debriefing with the monster afterward.
What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?
Honestly I would use it to invest in my future. I live in Hawai’i and it’s definitely not cheap here and buying a house seems near impossible if you dont make enough money. I am Kanaka ‘ōiwi (Native Hawaiian) and I don’t want to be priced out of my ancestral land. I know $13,000 wont get me a house but it is a step towards that by being used to pay off whats left of my student loan HAHA.
Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?
My real-life hero is my fiancé. He’s resourceful, quick witted, and an engineer so that means he’s a strategic thinker who can problem-solve, assess risks, pay attention to details, and come up with a plan — perfect for surviving anything from collapsing infrastructure to a zombie apocalypse.
