Freddy raised me. King wrote my lullabies. I raced the dark for fun. Halloween isn’t a costume, it’s what shaped me.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

One Halloween my entire family made a homemade horror movie, and as a kid I was just thrilled to be included. We turned my grandma’s country property into the perfect horror set, complete with fake blood, plastic knives, and real dark humor. We acted out jump scares, played ridiculous characters, and ended the night screaming, laughing, and replaying the bloopers. It was chaotic, creepy, and unforgettable.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I am not the fastest since my nickname is Turtle from a knee injury, but I would still outlast the girls in horror movies who forget how to walk when danger shows up. While they are screaming and tripping over the one log in a clear forest, I am already in the getaway car with the snacks. Slow and steady watches the credits while they become the sequel’s backstory.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I would use it to take a vacation in honor of my mom, visiting the places she always wanted to see. She was a huge horror movie fan, so being able to check this off my bucket list for the both of us would mean everything. I’d also get her the beautiful headstone she deserves, honoring her life and the memories we shared.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My real-life hero is my mom. She was the protector, smart and quick, and she had a way of becoming friends with the most unloved and unwanted characters. She loved horror movies and would’ve been the one making the smartest calls while keeping everyone calm. If I had to survive a horror movie, there’s no one I’d want by my side more.
