What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

When I was a freshman in college I was cast as the Criminologist in an annual production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That year, Halloween happened to fall on a weekend and so we got to actually perform on the night of. I always go all out for Halloween, but I'm not sure any experience can top doing The Rocky Horror Picture show on All Hallow's Eve!

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

First of all, I'm a teacher- there's nothing that can scare me. If I don't lose my cool during a lockdown situation with 30 kids to protect, I'm not going to lose it in a horror movie. Plus, there's not a serial killer out there who could outrun my freakishly long legs and wide gait. I would end up chasing him, and gauging his eyes out with the fingernails I keep filed into sharp points for exactly this reason.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I would give some to my family who have children and could use the help, take one good vacation, spend the majority on my classroom/students, and use the rest to jumpstart a writing career while I keep teaching.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My real-life hero is my grandma. She is a life-long, self-taught learner who was raised in abject poverty and went on to raise an amazing family and overcome so many circumstances. She taught me to read, write, and do math before I ever got into school, and she gave all her children and grandchildren the same leg up. She escaped an abusive marriage early and was a single, divorced mother at a time when that was not accepted by society. She remained strong, and raised us to be strong too.
