Jaime Whitaker

As a child I feared horror. Halloween changed that—its FX became my passion, leading me to study costume & makeup design.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

My favorite Halloween memory was visiting my great-grandmother at her senior community on Halloween night. She loved seeing everyone dressed up, and her joy made the night so special. When I was “too old” to trick-or-treat, I was lucky to experience it again through my niece and nephews. Tagging along with them let me see the magic continue, especially watching how much it meant to my great-grandmother to see the kids in costume.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I know I’d survive a horror movie—mostly because I’d be the villain. But even if I weren’t, I’m smart enough not to make the classic mistakes: I wouldn’t hide in the tool shed, I wouldn’t run upstairs when there’s a front door wide open, and I definitely wouldn’t leave my phone ringer on. Survival is all about thinking ahead, and I like to believe I’d outsmart the tropes before they could catch me.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

With $13k, I’d knock out some bills, invest in building a killer FX makeup kit, and maybe treat myself to a trip. I’d also add another horror tattoo to my collection—possibly a GG piece to go with my Chucky and Tiffany tattoos. Honestly, the possibilities feel endless!

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

If I were in a horror movie, I’d bring my scary-fun sister with me! She’s a fellow horror fan, and I’d know we’d make it out—well, I’d survive, and I’d do everything I could to help her keep up. She’s the Brenda to my Cindy, my horror-movie-watching partner, and the reason Halloween is always extra fun. I’m so proud of everything she’s accomplished, and I couldn’t imagine facing the scares without her by my side!
