Carolina Riera

I love doing Halloween all year. Horror movies are my comfort shows. Scary is my aesthetic. Crown me the face of fear.

What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

One year I transformed myself into something straight out of a nightmare sunken eyes, torn skin, and just the right mix of fresh and dried blood. What made it unforgettable was the authenticity of the process: layering latex looked like real flesh, blending bruise tones until they felt painfully alive, and adding those tiny unsettling details you only notice up close.Special effects makeup has this magic where, for a moment, you even start to believe the monster staring back at you in the mirror

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I’d make it to the end of a horror movie because I don’t ignore red flags or red rooms. I’m not the one investigating strange noises or splitting up ‘just to cover more ground.’ I ask questions, stay aware, and trust my instincts. I keep my shoes on, phone charged, and exit routes mapped. I’ve seen enough horror to know survival isn’t about being fearless it’s about being smart, quiet, and five steps ahead.”

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I’d flip the unlucky $13,000 into the ultimate horror makeup & costume kit prosthetics, SFX gear, blood gallons, the works then host the most terrifyingly iconic Halloween event ever. If you’re going to dance with bad luck, you might as well do it in style… and full special effects.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

ICON WISE DEFINITELY JAMIE LEE CURTIS AND MATTHEW LILLARD!!!!! My real-life hero would be my boyfriend. We’re both huge horror fans, so we’ve basically been training our whole lives for survival always spotting the tropes, predicting the jump scares, and knowing exactly what not to do. He’s tall enough to reach anything we’d need, I’m quick enough to catch what others miss, and together we’d make the ultimate final duo.
