What’s your most memorable Halloween experience?

When my son was five, we rode the haunted wagon ride at Saunders Farm. Near the end, a man with a Jason mask appeared with a chainsaw chasing us. Kids screamed, but my son jumped up like he wanted an autograph and excitedly shouted: “Mom, it’s Jason Voorhees, it’s Jason Vorhees!” Parents stared, I turned red, and he beamed like he had seen his hero. To this day I still laugh about it.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I’d survive a horror movie because I’ll never walk through a house without lights on, I don’t go into basements and I never split up. I also don’t trust easy, and my overthinking brain means I’ve already spotted the killer before the music even starts. Add my faith and determination and boom - I’m the one rolling credits! I also may not be the best to watch horror movies with. You don’t need to worry about jump scares, the real scare is how quickly I ruin the mystery with my commentary. 😅

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I would take my son to Disney World. I promised him I would take him one day and I want to keep that promise. With the left over money I would help pay off my mortgage.

Who is your real-life hero who you would want to survive a horror movie with?

My real-life hero is a man named Karl whom I had the honor of meeting while working for the Alzheimer’s Society. As a teenager in Poland during WWII, he joined the underground resistance and fought back against both Nazi and Russian forces. He halted food trucks meant for Nazi soldiers, escaped a prison guarded by Russians on Christmas Eve while sick with a fever, and even tried rescuing concentration camp victims. His courage, resilience, and selflessness define what a true hero is to me.
